It's been quite a few years since I've been to Prospect Place. There was some restoration, the library, the stairs...., I noticed there are a lot of greens in the restoration. Is this a common color from the original time period? Do you plan to use any other colors? Also, when you restore the servants quarters, will you paint it haint blue like they had? That would be interesting if you did. I was just curious. I'm very into the paranormal that's going on there, but the building itself is gorgeous, and it's nice to see it's being restored.

The color green was very common in that period. There was a reason for the use of this color. The original paints were based on milk, lime and pigment. There were no window screens then and insects would regularly get into the house. They would be attracted to the milk in the paint and begin to eat at it. The pigment in the green was arsenic, when the insects ingested the arsenic they would die.
We have used a good number of blues in the house thus far as well. The dining room is blue and the lobby (well room) is trimmed in blue. The servants bedroom and Mary Adams room will be returned to "Haint Blue" paint when complete as well.
The Gentlemen's Parlor has some green trim but is mostly repainted with the original browns and golds.
