I was just wondering where one purchases an EMF detector? Can you fill me in please. And how do you all feel about them? Do you use them at Prospect? And what about those things (sorry, I don't know what they're called) that pick up noise far away. They have ear pieces. Someone used one a long time ago at a hunt there and you could hear footsteps at the other end of the basement when we were at the farthest end. It was really interesting, I just don't know what they're called. Actually, you were at that hunt Randy (Darkness, lol) Do you remember?

My "sonic ear" is a National Geographic NG3500 Amplified monocular. It was on a clearance shelf in a nature store. It's wicked looking! I think you could look for one under parabolic listening device.

As far as any of this equipment goes I got most of mine from E-Bay.

I manufacture my own. I also provide plans for anyone to build them on my website at

www.hhs.net/~jbrown

Choose the Paranormal Destination, once that page opens then select "Projects" from the menu on the left.

I would have liked to come out on the 23rd but had prior commitments and couldn't change them. maybe next time.... let me know when the next event happens.

The cave thing sounds good if things change. Right now there is a moratorium on all caving in many caves due to the white nose fungus. That is an infection which is killing a lot of bats and to prevent cavers spreading it most have cut back on caving until it is isolated as to exactly what is happening. It doesn't hurt humans, but it causes bats to not hibernate properly and they are starving before the supply of insects is available. Till then most Pa. caves are closed to caving.

UFO sightings continue to come in. no great cases but there are reports coming through a couple times a week. Mostly just misindentifications of natural or manmade objects.

Yes you have missed something if you've never gone caving. It is just what it sounds like, you find a cave, get permission if needed, get three good light sources and a hardhat and prepare to get muddy spending the next hour (or several for that matter) exploring the cave. That is caving in one sentence, of course there is a right way and wrong way to do it. If done properly it is safe and a lot of fun, if done wrong you can be hurt or killed, like a lot of adventure activities. I have promised a cave trip to a few on here and when the weather breaks I will set it up in a local Pa. cave. (Provided the bat problem is resolved and the moratorium lifted.)

that does sound like fun. Thanks for filling me in. Smile I don't think there is anything in our area that will let you go without a guide. I bet you see some real beautiful things though!
