Awww. thanks I'm blushing lol I think the idea could work....Maybe have them check in on a Friday evening and then out by such in such time on Sunday. We would just have to find someone who would want to do the classes/disscussions. I could probably find some of our better photos and evps to bring for it though. Maybe we could have pizza for everyone on Friday night...I'm not sure what the prices are like around there but we could possibly include it in the cost of everyone. We could also have a camp fire going to at night. The reason I say maybe 2 nights is because if you are to split the groups up depending on the turn out, you want it to be fair for everyone. We could have people stay in certain areas to make sure the groups stay in designated areas if need be. I would voulnteer to do that. If we have "newbies" we could have demonstrations of how to use equipment. The one problem I see is that at night once everyone is done and laid down for the night the doors would obviously have to be locked for security, now what if someone has to use the rest room? Thoughts?

(There IS an external entrance for the little rest room off the back porch, but right now the back porch is in need of repair so it's been, kinda, off limits. However, we can try to make it a priority to repair in order to continue planning an outing such as the one we're looking at. )

OH..! I almost forgot. .. Joe Dutt is trying to organize some type of ghost hunting 101 where both his organization and Prospect Place could benefit. He's a class #1 expert in different types of paranormal investigating! I'm not sure of the exact details, whether it be one time or a series of different types of classes.....including history.... but maybe we ought to wait and see what that proposal includes before we do very much with the main reason for our camp out as being that geared around classes and hunting..... Keep thinking, tho! We could do this as a different type of educational campout! These ideas are worth sitting down with a calendar and working on!

One more note... I know Easter's coming and the TAPS program will be airing soon. Give me an idea of who might be able to attend a meeting at Prospect Place on the afternoon of March 29th...interested parties who wish to help with the organization of our BBQ (first). I'm guiding the tours that night and thought maybe we could get as many interested people as possible there to throw some things out on the table so we can get started scheduling for this fund raiser. George, Randy, Garnet, Veronica, and any other board members are invited also.
Is this possible???????

I attended last year's TOP-ORG conference and enjoyed it. If you guys get something together this year I would be interested in doing it again as long as I don't run into a conflict of dates / times. _________________ CaveRat is an

Here's another idea sent by a fan of the estate to George; read it and see what you think:
 |
 |
Hi George,> > My friend Sandy Lehman and I and another friend stayed at the house for a ghost hunt last fall. Sandy tells me there was discussion on the web site about beginning the barn restoration (I couldn't find what she was referring to) and some fund raising activities. I wasn't sure if you were familiar with an organization called Friends of Ohio Barns? It is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of historic Ohio barns. They helped with saving my neighbor's barn from demolition. They may be able to help you with your efforts. They have a web site http://ohiobarns.osu.edu/. I have an idea with regard to a fundraising event: a polo match on the grounds of Prospect Place along with a pig roast/barbeque. I am friends with someone who is a polo player with the local polo association. They usually have their regular matches in Granville but will do special matches for charity events. Best regards, Beth

Has anyone in this area seen a polo match?? (Sounds cool!) _________________ Assistant Lead Investigator

The Polo matches she is refering to are the ones in Granville at the "Bryn Du" Mansion (the other mansion Dave Longenberger was preserving before his illness, remember Paulette, I told you about that place last time I saw you). They have alot more space though at Bryn Du. I mean there's alot of land in the front of Prospect, but not like Granville. Pig Roast...you'd have to pay a person to do that, and to purchase the hog. Might eat into the profit too much. Sounds cool, but we'd have to check out pricing. I'm actually catering a Pig Roast wedding this summer and we've hired an outside vendor to roast the hog, so I'll have to check to see how much that would cost. Maybe it isn't that bad. I'll check and get back to you all.
I just love that everyone is excited about the fundraiser. It will be so great meeting everyone who cares so deeply for the future of this great estate.
Denise

Doing things with a common theme is usually beneficial. Identifying key markets (groups of people) who will pay attention to your message and go after them. Not try to be all things to all people. What markets can Prospect Place target? What identity can it develop that's viral (will spread on it's own like ghost hunting there does)?
I know Bryn Du plays off the luxury theme. The place has already been impeccably restored and they rent it out for a lot of money for a variety of events. When you think of Bryn Du you think of luxury, quality, and attention to detail. It's surrounded by "McMansions" and it's in Granville a luxurious town.

While I'm not positive on this I think Granville may provide some funding for Bryn Du.
Personally, I think the key to making anything work is having someone around who's an all-star at networking. My business partner could as the saying goes sell snow to eskimos. He's on every board he can get on, in the Kiwanis, a country club member and he basically knows everyone in Coshocton. 90% of our business comes from him..forget advertising. You need an expert networker on hand. The kind of guy who can go find someone to roast a hog for free. _________________ myspace.com/is300lex

Lex, would your partner be interested in helping us to find the viral identity that we can develop involving Prospect Place? We have a real great set of people here who'd love to develop the Historical character of the Estate but we're not sure of how to do it and who to target. We feel the historical value of this effort could be priceless to the area. Our efforts may be small in accordance to the Bryn Du comparison, but it could some day become it's competition if we could get the right support. I guess we need to advertise it's story a little more, and bring the name of Prospect Place to the tip of everyone's tongue....We'd love to draw in investors....so....our "save the barn" BBQ can get us some practice in doing what we need to do, finding out just how to get others involved in the deep love we have for the Estate. Will you continue to help us and get the word out? Help us identify our "market" and gain the acknowledgement of the Adams' importance in the development of this county and it's prosperity ?
(okay...now I'll get down off my soap box and hope we can get this thing together the way we need to!!!!) _________________ Assistant Lead Investigator
