Hey, just had an idea. As far as fundrasing goes, does it have to be at the mansion? What about something at a bowling alley? I'm actually going to one this week and I thought hey, that sounds good! Thoughts?

You can have a fundraiser pretty much anywhere you can either afford to hold one or anywhere anyone will let you hold one for free. A lot of places have golf scrambles to raise money and they're of course at golf courses not the location of the organization raising money. Big Brothers Big Sisters has the "Bowl For Kids Sake" thing at bowling alley's.

A friend of mine back in Coshocton bowled in a league for 6 years and one year they were a person short so he talked me into joining. I had never bowled before so he taught me the basics. I ended up going on to win almost all of the league awards Boy was he mad.

LOL.... i think that would make me a little mad too. I'm no where near that good! BUT, I DO have my very own bowling shoes with glow in the dark stars on them (next is a ball to match but can't find anything. ) I will let you know how everything goes first thing Saturday morning. Did anyone find out about the 50/50 or anything like that? If we could do something like that also while bowling, I think it would be great. I think doing bowling would be great because they'd think they were getting to do something for their money. I don't know about there, but here bowling is getting more popular for the kids to do and stuff. Even if it couldn't be an evening event a Sunday afternoon might even be nice. What are the chances there that a bowling alley would let you do it? I know I'd come to help out.

What about having a 50/50 drawing at PP? and have the drawing around the end of aug or in sept. And maybe raffle off tickets for ghost hunts?

From what I understand, we have to approach the county person in order to do any raffle (which is considered "gambling") in the county of Muskingum. BUT...if we could print off tickets and sell them outside the county (!!) and donate the profits to the efforts of Prospect Place for it's restoration, would we be able to do THAT??????? Cool idea, Dan!

If you're not in Muskingum County there isn't anything they can do about it. I think if you shot them an email at the commissioner's office they'd let you go ahead with one IN Muskingum County since all of the proceeds are going to a non-profit entity. They're just trying to weed out shysters after having had some problems in the past with private clubs holding illegal drawings and other questionable "fundraisers".

It's good to have some connections with the local government officials. I have some sort of relationship with government officials in all of the communities where I do business. If they know you, they know what kind of person you are and are familliar with the projects you're working on (because you tell them about them all the time haha). They're also easier to get to when you have questions if you know them. It's good business practice.
